Flying into Delhi, India

We flew into Delhi on Emirates Air which is one of my personal favourites and it just happened to be the coldest day in the last 20 years.  We were not expecting that, when you think of India you think hot, right? Wrong.  I have never been out of my long pants and sweaters and coat.  It should be about 15-20 degrees Celsius during the day at this time of the year but we have not seen that yet.  School is actually cancelled until January 12th in Northern India, Delhi included to wait until this cold snap is finished.  We have been reading the paper as often as we can in each country and then we have a monthly subscription to the online Star Phoenix as well which we read off of our Kindle but some countries do not have a contract with Amazon.com so we don’t get it until we get to the next country which does.

We went directly to our hotel with our driver that I hired through www.Isango.com  I paid 565 USD for 6 days of driver and guide going to 3 cities called the Golden Triangle starting in Delhi then Agra then Jaipur and back to Delhi to fly out.  I booked my own accomodations.

We stayed at the Hilton New Delhi Janakpuri Hotel a brand new hotel in the Southwest of Delhi.  India so far is exactly what I thought that it was going to be like, overcrowded and major traffic snarls, dirty and chaotic but so far it is extremely interesting and everyone should come here at least once.  I am so glad that I booked 5 star here in all of India because I would hate to see 3 or 4 star, yikes.
