Graffiti City – Krakow, Poland

My son could not even get over how much graffiti was plastered all over this city.  He demanded to know ‘why would the kids do this to their own city.’ My response was that there must be a whole bunch of unhappy youth here in Krakow.  It is very obvious that this is a post-communist city by the look of the buildings in ill repair with plaster falling off the outer walls and chunks missing here and there and graffiti at the base of it.  But beside a building in ill-repair will be juxtapositioned a beautifully restored building with amazing sculptured plaster motifs.  Krakow is a glass half full for me with more to come on the horizon.  For other Europeans, Krakow is the place to go for a cheap boy’s stag- weekend but it will be a major tourist destination in the very near future.
