The Flora and Fauna of Cyprus

In our villa front and back yard there is a surplus of bushes, trees, plants, many that I have never seen before.  I especially like the lavender bush which is flowering abundantly now.  It makes my 5 sprig lavender back home in the summer look quite anaemic.  This bush is 3 feet across.   There is also some kind of butterfly bush that I have seen in a multitude of colors here on the island and the hummingbirds seem to love this one.  The bougainvillea in Cyprus is honestly the most beautiful I have ever seen.  The weather must be perfect for growing bougainvillea because I have never seen such vibrant colors, nor such large bushes, trees really with thick trunks and such a mass of flowers.  They are breathtaking if you are into such things.  I am quickly converting Daxtin into a plant connoisseur, I am no Louis Hole but maybe Dax can turn out to be like Louis’s son? On the Aliathon property, our second timeshare here in Cyprus there are many grapefruit, lemon, olive and orange trees, for you to pick and eat.  I still have not found my lime tree yet.  I am going to have a grapefruit tomorrow.  Grape vines would fit into this category of plant life as well.  I have found a white grape that fits nicely into a wine bottle and this is called Aphrodite White Wine.  It is cheap and made here on the island of Cyprus like many wines are.  Ouzo a liquorice liqueur must come from some sort of plant like anisette?  Anyways you can buy a micky for under 2 Euros.
