The Most Beautiful Beach in the World

The locals had been telling us about Lighthouse Beach which is 22 miles south of Rocksound.  They said it was fabulous but when I first laid eyes on it, fabulous is not quite a remarkable enough adjective to use when you see Lighthouse Beach.  It is stunning and dazzling and oh so beautiful!!!!!!!

My favourite beach of all time has always been Jolly Harbour Beach, Antigua.  Now it is my second favourite and Lighthouse Beach has earned the top spot.  First of all Lighthouse Beach is isolated, tricky to get to and deserted.  The last 2 miles or so take at least 15 minutes of tediously slow driving with a sedan.  A four wheel drive would be much better.  When we did make our way there we happened to be the 4th car to arrive.  We lucked out and one family had 3 little boys for Dax to play with and they were from our resort.  Dax ran and swam for hours with these little guys and Darren snorkelled and got some great underwater photos.  I sat on the beach and talked to the Mom of the boys.
The beach has large white dramatic limestone cliffs that add to its uniqueness.  The sand is fine and white with little pink flecks in it.  The water is surreal turquoise blues with darker spots where the reefs are.  The beach is shaped like a crescent moon and has other beaches on the other side of each point.  The cliffs have been washed out from centuries of water erosion and have become almost cave like and Dax loved climbing here.  It is an easy beach to fall in love with because it is pure perfection.
I did not want to leave or take my eyes off of it because I have no idea when I am going to see it again.  From our resort here at Powell Point Cape Eleuthera it takes a good hour to get to it.  The last few miles of road to get to the beach is not conducive to a rental car, so we will not try it again on this trip, unfortunately.  Luck has it that there are other lovely beaches to try out here on Eleuthera Island.
