Jordan Valley Marriott Hotel and Spa – Dead Sea, Jordan

This is a spectacular property on the Dead Sea.  It is large with 3 pools, one is heated and then the beach of the Dead Sea to swim in.  The property has many restaurants and we had breakfast buffet included with our rate of 110 JOD through the friends and family rate of Marriott.  The breakfast was really good and varied with Jordanian and North American breakfast items.  We were lucky enough to have a extremely large balcony almost the size of our room, but it looked out to the other hotel.  There is a great fitness room and the internet is 10.50 JOD per 24 hours.  We stayed at this property over the Christmas holidays and I was a bit worried what would be in store for us if anything at all.  We are Christians and Jordan is predominantly Muslim but they did put on a Christmas Eve celebration that was good.  They had a large bonfire with marshmallows to roast but they quickly ran out of those but one of the staff found my son one on a stick which was sweet.  They were also roasting chestnuts for us and there was mulled wine and hot chocolate.  Christmas tunes were playing and we just sat down in front of the fire and listened for quite some time while warming up from a pleasant and buoyant swim in the Dead Sea.  We later visited Champions restaurant on site and we asked if it was possible to have a carrot to feed the Santa’s reindeer that would be visiting our 7 year old that night and they gave us reams of carrots and lettuce which I thought that was very nice of them and at no charge.  The Italian restaurant on site is also very good.
