Radisson Island Residence Club at Golden Sands - Malta

This is a great resort situated on top of picturesque cliffs.  We were quite comfortable in our little one bedroom unit.  We did an exchange on this resort for another of mine.  I have always wanted to go to Malta so this was my chance.  There were a couple of things that could be fixed very quickly at this resort and the first is that it is not a well stocked kitchen.  I was constantly phoning down to housekeeping to get a sharp knife or more glasses or more plates and a person with a small brain could even fix this issue.  Also the bathtub was the smallest I have ever seen, really.  It also mentioned that there would be barbeque facilities but there were not; when I called down to enquire they actually delivered a barbecue to our balcony for us for the night.  This we found quite strange but we cooked a nice meal that night.  The room was not that clean and I found myself cleaning things that should have been clean when we first checked in.  An intelligent housekeeping manager is needed at this resort to get it up to 5 star standards.
Aside from all of these petty frustrations we loved the island of Malta and hope to return and we would return to this resort.  It is beautifully landscaped and nice pools although they are not heated, so our child could not venture into the pool in November.  The best thing about this resort is that it is surrounded by nature and exploration hikes.  We took two on our own and explored for hours through some fairly precarious hikes.  The internet was free in the room once you signed out a cable and the WIFI was in the lobby.  This was very much appreciated.
A car rental is a must but I liked being away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities of Malta.  It is a very close drive to Mdina and Mellieha Bay.
